The Bharati Premier League (BPL) is a structured and competitive cricket tournament within the college, bringing the intensity and organization of professional leagues to a campus level since its inception in 2018. Started by Rohit Panda and Samyabrata Das, BPL was envisioned as a formalized platform for high-quality cricket, and over the years, it has evolved into one of the most well-organized sporting events in the college.

A key milestone in its development came with the 2019 batch, which contributed significantly by building the college cricket pitch, laying the foundation for a more standardized and competitive playing environment. Around the same time, the league structure was streamlined and centralized, ensuring smoother execution and consistency across seasons.

What sets BPL apart is its open participation format, allowing players from UG, interns, and PG batches to compete on the same platform. This creates a dynamic mix of raw talent, experience, and game awareness, making every match closely contested. All teams are formed through a formal auction system. Teams begin with a limited number of retentions, after which the auction becomes a defining phase where owners strategically bid to assemble balanced and competitive squads.

The auction is one of the most anticipated aspects of the league, often setting the tone for the entire season. Player combinations, budget management, and tactical selections play a crucial role in shaping team dynamics even before the tournament begins.

Adding to the competitive edge, the tournament offers a cash prize to the winning team. Today, BPL stands as a benchmark for campus-level sporting events, defined by its structure, competitiveness, and the quality of cricket it consistently delivers.
